It has been a great start to the year this past week. The teachers started with an INSET day on Tuesday before the pupils started back on Wednesday. The pupils seem to have got straight back into the swing of things and the Year 7 pupils have started exceptionally well. We held a mass for our Year 11 pupils on Friday at St Oswald’s Church to pray for them and to support them in their last year with us in school. They were superbly behaved and very respectful; all the teachers wish them every success this year.

Mr Cassidy informed me of the 'School Science Prize Competition' which several Year 9 pupils entered into at the very end of the summer term. I am delighted to report that Jake Beaumont produced an outstanding piece of work and was one of a select group of finalists invited to an evening event at Daresbury Laboratory along with his parents on Thursday, 16 July 2015.  Other competitors who received a certificate for their efforts where Ellie Doherty, Eloise Blears, Anthony Kemp, Anna Darcy and Niamh Toner. Congratulations to all these pupils for their fantastic efforts.

Congratulations and well done to Harry Winnard in Year 11, who completed the Wigan 10K on Sunday to raise money for 'Joining Jack' in a very impressive 39 minutes!
