It has been an extremely busy two weeks in school.  The highlight for me was the Certificate Presentation Evening on Thursday 19th November.  It was a fantastic occasion and it was brilliant to see our former pupils all grown up in the space of three months! It was also wonderful to see Mr Eyes looking so well, handing out the certificates and simply getting the chance to have a chat with so many outstanding young adults; I truly am so proud of them!

Mrs Whitfield informed me that several Year 9 pupils have been involved in a music enrichment programme after school on Mondays, focussing on song writing, with song topics that have ranged from the weather and new shoes, to the more serious subject of events in Paris.  (see photo)

Mr Morgan informed me of the Wigan Schools Cross Country competition which took place at Leigh Sports Village on Tuesday 17th November and in which the school came first and were crowned Wigan Schools Cross Country Champions 2015! Our Year 7 boys came first in their group, with three pupils qualifying for the Wigan team: Jack Mullen 7A; Connor Malone 7S and Matthew Williamson 7O. Our Year 7 girls won their group with three pupils qualifying for the Wigan team: Emma Haynes 7M, Olivia Williams 7A and Katie Chesworth 7C. A special mention to Emma Haynes who came first in her race against over 70 other girls; an absolutely fantastic achievement! The Year 8/9 & 10/11 girls’ teams came second in each of their age categories, with five pupils qualifying: Katie Morley 8M1; Joanna Smith 9B1; Laura Hickey 9B1; William Hewitt 9A1 and Maria McPolin 11C.

Miss Gallagher was pleased to tell me that Aimee Styles – 7A, Gemma Unsworth – 7C, Cameron Ridyard – 7G and Ella Halsall – 7C have all achieved their Library Bronze Reader Awards - well done!  The current achievement point leader board is Ruby Meyrick 7H in 3rd with 99 Achievement Points, Lily Webster 7S in 2nd with 107 Achievement Points and Heidi Doherty 7H in 1st with 110 Achievement Points.  Well done to all Year 7 pupils for your efforts; keep working hard and gaining those achievement points!
