Just as we broke for our Easter holiday, I had the pleasure of attending the Wigan finals of ‘The Young Enterprise’ competition at the Youth Zone in Wigan town centre.  There were 5 teams competing for the prize of Wigan area winners; we were the only team from a high school (the others from colleges).  I could not have been prouder of the Year 10 pupils who supported and presented on the evening; they were absolutely fantastic!  As the judges deliberated, I told the team that it didn’t matter whether they won or not, as they had done everything they could to the best of their ability.  They did win the overall prize and the best presentation prize and they now go to Manchester to compete in the North West competition as Wigan area champions – absolutely brilliant!!  You can see a picture of them here with their trophies! The pupils who shone on the night were: Adam Smith, Tony Kemp, Aleyna Adamson, Josh Matthews, Harry Nicholson, Nadia Barton, Jemima Naylor, Hannah Barston, Jordan Cleary and Callum Kelly. We are very proud of each and every one of them! Why not go to their website and take a look? www.littletreebooks.co.uk

Unbeknown to us, we have a media celebrity in our midst! Joseph Banks (Y11) came to see me to ask if I had seen episode 5 of ‘Call the Council’ on BBC1 over Easter, in which he is heavily featured.  He is such a modest young man - he hadn’t told anyone! After watching it on iPlayer, I am very proud of Joseph and what a lovely young man he comes across as - and I wish him every success as he pursues his ambition of becoming a joiner.  You can watch the episode by clicking on the following link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b075b6py/call-the-council-series-3-episode-5
