GCSE practical examinations continued this week, with GCSE Drama in Mr Bateman’s drama studio on Wednesday evening.  The pupils performed exceptionally well and I hope that this is reflected in their marks on results day.

Mrs Ainsworth in geography told me how proud she was of her Year 11 class.  They have been working very hard on their revision and helping each other learn case studies. They have also completed the weekly challenge question, which had an excellent response.  The pupils were rewarded with feedback and a chocolate treat! I think I might call into this lesson myself!  Mrs Ainsworth is really proud of them and is hoping it will all pay off for them in their GCSE exam; she will really miss them when they leave.

Mrs Davies in science told me that Caitlin Taylor (8M2) has been producing fantastic work. She has just completed an investigative science assessment piece that was perfect; she didn't drop a single mark. This has been achieved by looking where she hadn't met criteria on previous tasks and then making the necessary improvements on the next assignments. We are extremely proud of her commitment to her science studies.  Outstanding work Caitlin, well done!

‘Let’s Sing!’ rehearsals started on Wednesday.  Mr Orrell from Wigan Music Service kindly came in to start the whole process for our performance on Wednesday 6th July.  The pupils were veryPupils rehearse for Lets Sing excited and sounded fabulous already! It is one of the highlights of the year and I am sure it will be another resounding success.  The staff choir are brilliant and are going to contribute again; they are even tolerating my poor singing!

Miss Gallagher told me that Year 7 had another excellent week and it is great to see some new names at the top of the achievement point list this week.  In 3rd place was Jessica Maitland, Cassie Brown, Aedan Hambleton, Max Nixon, Lillie Mae-Smith, Ethan Smith, Joshua McHenry and Olivia Williams. In 2nd place was Joe Byrne, Francesca Smith, Jada Thompson, Katie Murray, Rhys Shannon and Libby Wilson and in 1st place was Isabelle Asquith and Charlotte Heard.  Well done to all the pupils, keep up all the hard work!
