We held our first PTA Summer Fair on Friday evening and it was a great success! Thank you so much to all parents, staff and pupils who supported the event - the atmosphere was fantastic and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun! We raised around £3,000 for the school, which will help greatly in the coming year. I am already looking forward to next year’s event!
Mr Reardon told me that Year 8 have had a very impressive week. On Monday evening, those students that completed the Year 8 Challenge went to St John Rigby College. Here, the students took part in a number of activities that promoted teamwork and resilience. It was a hugely successful evening with staff at John Rigby commenting on how well pupils worked. On Tuesday during assembly, prizes were given out to reward our students that have performed exceptionally over the past year. It was great to recognise the achievements of so many of our hard working students.
Mr Cassidy told me that we have new heavy weight crystal champions of the school. From 9x2, Alex Lynch, Liam Mannion and Amy Holcroft’s crystal mass was 7.85g. The runners up were Charley Schumacker and Caitlyn Pooke. Great work!
Miss Gallagher told me on Thursday that our Year 10 French students welcomed Noemie, the Angers Ambassadress, to their French lesson! Noemie prepared and delivered an excellent presentation on the Angers-Wigan twinning, whilst also sharing her love for French language, culture, history, food, politics and much more! It was very interesting and informative. The Year 10 students asked lots of questions and even had a go at exploring the differences between Wigan and Angers in French. We look forward to meeting the 2017-2018 ambassador next year! Take a look at some of the photographs on our MFL Twitter feed @MFL_SEAS.
This is my final post of the year, I hope you have found my blog interesting and I wish you all a safe and happy summer.
