Mathematics is a core subject and you will study it throughout your five years at St Edmund Arrowsmith.

You will be taught a range of skills from working accurately with numbers and managing data to manipulating algebra and examining geometry. Maths is everywhere around us in the world and whether you choose to study beyond GCSE level or not, being numerate and capable of managing such things as money, time and arithmetic are essential life skills.

A lot of what you will be taught will include transferable skills such as the ability to process information and to problem solve. Your maths lessons will include a wide range of activities including working in groups and with ICT.

There are lots of opportunities to get involved with extra-curricular activities and events in maths. Each year new opportunities are developed – your teachers will keep you up-to-date with everything you can get involved in such as the Year 7 Numeracy Awards Club and the UKMT Challenges.  To find out more about the enrichment opportunities available from the maths department, go to the enrichment pages of our school website.

You can keep up-to-date with everything happening in the Maths department via our twitter feed (@eddies_maths) or on our area of the website.
