After a restful Christmas break, it was good to get back to school this week and start, what is going to be a very busy term! Aaron Massingham from 7S, gave me two chapters of a comic that he had created, written stories for and illustrated himself, and what a fantastic job he has done. I really enjoyed reading about the adventures of ‘Aaron Man’ and who knows; he may be a future Marvel superhero.  Brilliant work Aaron, keep it up!

Mrs Outterside told me that Year 11 achieved 98% attendance this week, which is fantastic. B1, C2 and M2 all achieved 100% attendance – please aim for 100% attendance in such a crucial year.

The year group collected a staggering 289 achievement points in just four days - well done everyone! A1 top the form leader board with 35 achievement points, B2 are in second place with 34 and C1 are in third place with 28 achievement points. The following pupils are at the very top of the individual pupil leader board with 6 achievement points; Nicole Billington, Caitlin Henderson, Lucy Hesketh, Matthew Hynes and Louis Walker.

Congratulations to M2, S1 and S2 who have the lowest number of behaviour points and L1 who have zero lates - well done to all pupils in those forms.

Mr Reardon told me that Year 9 have started 2018 fantastically well, having picked up over 700 achievement points this week. 9H were the biggest contributors to this total with over 122 points. A big congratulations has to go to all students in Mrs Hollins' form as they didn't pick up a single behaviour point all week. Well done! Year 9 pupils have started thinking about their options this week following Mrs Morris' launch assembly when they listened to talks from various local colleges. It has been very impressive to see the way in which many students in the year group have already taken it upon themselves to speak to teachers about possible future careers and the next step in their education.

The History department continue to be impressed with outstanding pupil work. The Historians of the week are: for Mrs Cole - Alex Dean in 8S, for making excellent contributions in class discussions. For Mr Linton - Robert Morris in 7L, for excellent research into life in Britain during the medieval period and for Mr Hill - Charlotte Clark in 9B, for excellent effort in her Treaty of Versailles assessment task.

Congratulations to all pupils - please keep up the good work!
