It was a privilege to welcome back to the school Ryan Taylor, our Head Boy from 2011, who came to speak to our Year 10 pupils on Thursday during our assembly. Ryan gave a fascinating insight into his adventures since he left us and his opening slide was a picture of him and Theresa May with the caption ‘From green blazer to green beret’ referencing his role as a Royal Marines Commando. Pupils and staff really enjoyed listening to Ryan and his presentation was fantastic - we hope to see him again soon!

One of the huge strengths of our school is the fantastic array of enrichment opportunities our pupils enjoy and our staff work so hard to put on for them. So it was extra special to receive an email from the parents of Ben O’Donnell in Year 11 that informed us Ben has been chosen to travel to Australia with St Helens Rugby League in October. He will take part in a three-week rugby tour. He has also been offered an under 19’s contract at Saints which he will sign in July after his exams have been completed. All of his family are extremely proud of what he has achieved, as is everyone at the school. Special thanks to Mr Griffin who Ben had a huge amount of respect for, giving him the confidence that was missing in his game when he started his journey at St Edmund Arrowsmith. The fact that Mr Griffin had so much belief in Ben really encouraged him to try harder and he has most definitely played a major part in Ben’s success story so far. Good luck in your rugby career Ben!

I hope everyone has a great half term!
