We have had a wonderful last week of term in school with every year group attending an Advent Service in the school hall and a magnificent Carol Service at St Oswald’s Church on Wednesday evening!  What a great way to prepare for Jesus’ birth!

On the last day of term we are also showing our generosity by raising money to bring pupils to our school from our partner school in Soweto, South Africa.  I should not be surprised by the generosity of spirit of our pupils as they constantly show it whenever I ask them to, I cannot tell you how proud I am of them.

Whilst on the subject of generosity of spirit, I just want give you an example from 7W (Mrs Ainsworth’s form) who have brought in treats, blankets, money and food for the dogs and cats at Carla Lane Animals in Need Charity as part of their fill a shoe box Christmas campaign. They even made their own wrapping paper for the box, with messages on for the dogs and cats (see picture). They have done a brilliant job and Mrs Ainsworth could not be prouder of them.

I have many more examples of sheer kindness in this last week, but unfortunately I do not have the room to share them!  Thank you to all the pupils and staff who have contributed to showing kindness to others.

Finally, a few congratulations to pupils from the History Department.   Last month's History Challenge was won by Charlie B 7B, Theo S 7L, William S 7M, Will D 10G, Jacob D 10H, Andreas M 10C and Ewan M 10A; 5 achievement points are coming your way!

Historians for the week are Tom H 8W, for enthusiastic engagement and effort in the class Mock Election. Lucy R, 7C, for excellent effort in homeworks and Jessica H, 7G, for active participation in lessons.

I hope you enjoy these little snippets into school life as I really enjoy sharing all the great work with you.

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
