7G have been busy this week raising money for our year group's charity, Mary's Meals. Mary’s Meals provides one good meal to some of the world’s poorest children every school day.

Their work is named after Mary, the mother of Jesus, who brought up her own child in poverty. Mary’s Meals consists of, respects, and reaches out to people of all faiths and of none. £13.90 is all it costs to feed a child for a whole school year.

On Monday we held a year 7 lunchtime disco. We sold over 50 tickets and had lots of fun strutting our stuff on the dancefloor! Even Mr Cullen, Mrs Baylis and Mrs Chadwick showed us their best moves to the ‘Macarena’. We raised nearly £45, which will feed three children for an entire year; not bad for an afternoon’s bopping!

We also held a Valentine’s Day cake sale which gave our fellow students the opportunity to buy sweet treats for ‘that special person’ in their life. We raised just under £25, bringing this week’s total to nearly £75! That’s five children provided with a main meal, once a day, for a year.

Thank you to everyone who helped in any way and watch this space as we continue to raise money for this valuable cause.
