On Wednesday 28 June 2023,  the Y9 North West Counties Plate Competition rugby final took place against Rainford High School.  Our players were trailing 20-8 at half-time against a very physical, well-drilled and aggressive team.  However, in the second half the SEA Y9 team upped their effort and played superbly well, tying 24-24 after 'normal time'; taking the game to extra-time 'golden point' (5 minutes each-way).  With neither team scoring in the first 5 minutes of golden point, despite many unsuccessful drop goal attempts from both teams, the game was coming to an end when our players managed to force the mistake and then convert a drop goal and in turn, won the game with that final kick, taking the score to 25-24!

This performance epitomises everything about the school's culture, the SEA Y9 team's effort, commitment, resilience and willingness to overcome challenges was never more evident than in this performance.

It was a truly wonderful advert for team work - the win was very well deserved.

Congratulations to all the team!
