We are sad to report that our Y8 Boys rugby team bowed out at the semi-final stages of the Wigan & Leigh Cup final to Standish High yesterday. 

The game started poorly conceding in the first set of the game. Following a strong solo effort from Oliver Petichakis, we found ourselves ahead 6-4. However, we gave Standish possession in our own end too often, which resulted in us being down at half time. 

A much better second half response from our team kept them in the game with some amazing tries being scored. Although, some silly errors in our own half cost us dearly. Through good defence and sustained pressure in Standish's end, we clawed our way back to within touching distance of the final. With 5 minutes to go we were only 6 points away, and momentum was certainly with us. However, as seen in the first half (and sporadically throughout the second half), errors on the ball cost us valuable chances. 

With the last touch of game, Standish went over and converted the kick. The end result was 20-32 to the visitors. 

Regardless of the result, this group have been amazing over the last few months. Both Mr Lindley and Mr Hind have loved working them and seeing them improve game after game. Going in as such huge underdogs, to be within touching distance with 60 seconds to play is a great achievement in itself.

A massive WELL DONE!!
