What is an Apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship combines working and studying simultaneously.  You’ll spend most of your time gaining on-the-job training, with dedicated study time each week to work towards a qualification.

  • Salary: Apprenticeships are paid positions, so you’ll earn while you learn.
  • Study Locations: The study portion may take place at a college, university, or training centre, depending on the apprenticeship level.

Benefits of an Apprenticeship

  • Gain practical experience in a professional setting.
  • Earn qualifications while working, often with the support of your employer.
  • Develop key skills needed to succeed in your chosen career.
  • Can lead to further apprenticeships, higher-level qualifications, or full-time employment.

Levels of Apprenticeships

1.    Intermediate (Level 2)

  • Equivalent to GCSEs.
  • Suitable for those starting their career or wanting to enter a new industry.

2.    Advanced (Level 3)

  • Equivalent to A Levels.
  • Prepares you for higher apprenticeships or advanced roles.

3.    Higher and Degree (Levels 4-7)

  • Equivalent to foundation or full university degrees.
