The Art Department held their annual research trip to London.
The trip spanned two days this year due to the number of young artists and photographers. Students travelled by train to Euston and successfully navigated the tube network, arriving at Camden market shortly before lunch.
Students were then given the opportunity to sketch and photograph the architecture, stalls and wares sold in the market. Students later discovered that they missed out on meeting the 14th Doctor Who by a day on both occasions as his Tardis made a couple of stops in the market over the last couple of weeks.
Students were taken to the Houses of Parliament where some were pleased to see the recently cleaned Elizabeth Tower, home to Big Ben before taking an Uber boat along the Thames.
Arriving at the Globe Theatre students were then taken to see some of the contemporary art at the Tate Modern, where an exhibit featuring images by the photographer Aida Muluneh (who the photographer’s study) was being held.
To finish the day students crossed the Millennium bridge to St Pauls Cathedral, and made their way to Covent Garden for some food and in some cases a spot of retail therapy, finally arriving back in Wigan in time for bed.
The school elf also had a great day out and will be sharing his holiday snaps over the coming days!
Students should now have plenty of ideas to help them in their forthcoming art and photography exams which will begin in January.
