Our Y7 / Y8 Girls' Football Team played Bedford High School in a fantastic semi-final match on Monday night.
After a number of chances from both teams, the score was 0-0 at half time. Shortly after the break, Bedford took the lead due to an unfortunate deflection from one of our defenders. But the girls battled hard and scored an equaliser with less than 5 minutes to go until full time.
Penalties looming, the game ended 1-1. After 5 penalties, the score was 2-2. We were now on sudden death, but Amelia put herself forward to take the 6th penalty and scored, only for Bedford to miss theirs!
So our team won on 3-2 and they are now through to the Wigan Schools' final at Laithwaite Park in Wigan on Tuesday 10 December 2024. We await news of their opposition who have played the other semi-final match.
All the players should be congratulated on their fantastic win - it was an absolutely brilliant and thrilling match! Well done to you all!
