Year 7 Bring History to Life with Saxon and Norman Weapons Project

Year 7 pupils have been stepping back in time as part of their History lessons on the Saxons and Normans.
To deepen their understanding of life in medieval England, pupils were challenged to design and create their own Saxon and Norman-inspired weapons.

The project encouraged students to combine historical research with creativity, helping them explore how warfare played a significant role in the Norman Conquest and the Battle of Hastings.

Using a variety of materials and drawing on their classroom learning, pupils produced an impressive range of shields, swords, axes and other weapons. Each creation reflected the students' knowledge of the period and showcased their imagination and craftsmanship.

The hands-on activity allowed pupils to experience history in a memorable and engaging way, bringing to life the challenges faced by soldiers over 950 years ago. Through the project, students developed their understanding of historical sources, weapon design and the impact of the Norman invasion on England's history.

The History Department was delighted with the enthusiasm and effort shown by Year 7, and the finished projects demonstrated both excellent historical knowledge and outstanding creativity.

Well done to all of our Year 7 historians for their fantastic work and for helping to bring history to life! ⚔️🏰📜
