Studying at home
Downloading Citrix

You can access your school files from home easily through ‘The Gateway’.  Simply log onto the school website and click on ‘The Gateway’ which is one of the choices on the menu at the top right hand side of your screen.  You will then be given the opportunity to download Citrix onto your tablet, lap top or computer at home.  This only has to be done once; after the initial set up, you will have automatic access to ‘The Gateway’.  Once this program is downloaded, you can opt to ‘Access the Gateway’ and have full access to work that you have done in school allowing you to get on with your independent studies.

Group Files

A class group file has been set up for every class to which you belong.  Your teachers may put work in there for you to do.  Alternatively, some teachers use OneNote for class and homework.  Individual teachers will tell you which system they have used and explain how to access them to you.  In addition to your class files, you will also belong to a whole year group file.  These are often used for revision notes, so make sure that you check them out at exam time.

Independent study at school

There are several places where you can do homework or carry out research independently during the school day.

These are:

Where? Which days? What time? What for?

Lunchtime

3.05-4.00pm

Supervised Study
LRC Mon-Fri

IT Room Mon-Fri Lunchtime Homework Support

Some teachers and departments may allow homework and independent study in their classrooms at lunchtime.  For example, independent study is permitted in the geography classrooms and the maths department run a Y11 maths clinic where GCSE students can get help with tricky maths problems. Always check with a teacher before using a classroom at lunchtime.
