Last night I had the absolute pleasure of coaching our Y7 football team in their final central venue league festival where they now sit top of the league and have qualified for the knock out stages of the competition!
The team opened the evening with a 1-0 win over Shevington in a tightly contested contest. Their 2nd game was Vs Bedford, which was a convincing 3-0 victory. They then played Golborne HS, which they won 2-0. The last match of the evening was their toughest game Vs St Marys. Knowing this would a close contest we packed the midfield and had a single striker. As the game remained a stalemate and knowing a win would put us above St Marys we rolled the dice and put Joe Stokes on up front with Will Verinder and within 30 seconds the pair combined to break the deadlock and led the Y7 Eddies team to march on and take a 2-0 victory!
All the boys played incredibly well and were a true credit to the school. Special mention goes out to Joe Rigby on debut who is the next Des Walker, Joe Williams for his unbelievable strike in the Shevington game and Will Verinder and Joe Stokes for their tenacity in attack.
Many congratulations to all the players - you all showed what it takes to play together as a team, commitment and tenacity, but most of all a desire to play your best. WELL DONE #InspirationalActions
