Former Year 11 Students Return for a Memorable GCSE Awards Night with Special Guest Simon Caldwell

St Edmund Arrowsmith,  proudly welcomed back its former Year 11 students for this year’s GCSE Awards Evening, a night dedicated to celebrating academic success, personal growth, and the achievements of the class of 2025.

The event was formally opened by Chair of Governors, Mr Stephen Westhead, who praised the students for their resilience and commitment throughout their GCSE journey. His warm introduction set the tone for an evening filled with pride and reflection.

A highlight of the night came from the talented Year 9 pupils, who captivated the audience with two powerful rock ballads. The performance brought energy and excitement to the ceremony, showcasing the school’s thriving creative community.

The Awards Evening also featured special guest and former pupil Simon Caldwell, whose inspiring speech encouraged students to pursue their ambitions with confidence. Simon, who has spent more than 30 years as a journalist, reflected on his own path since leaving the school and shared valuable advice on embracing new opportunities.

The certificates were then presented to the pupils by Simon Caldwell and Assistant Head Teacher, Mrs Doolan.

To close the evening, the audience heard heartfelt speeches from the former Head Boy, former Head Girl, and Mr Dumican, each reflecting on the year group’s journey and celebrating their collective accomplishments. Their words provided a fitting end to a successful and uplifting night.

The ceremony concluded with refreshments and an opportunity for students, families, and staff to reconnect—rounding off a memorable celebration of success and community spirit.
