Meet the Professional Careers Lesson
Focus: Pupils will identify, develop and assess some of the key skills that employers value.

Brief outline of activities: The Careers Advisers, supported by local employers will deliver an interactive lesson where students will come up with a list of Yes/No questions to ask the visitors to figure out their job. They will also focus on the skills and qualities needed in a variety of different jobs.
Learning Objectives:
- Students will learn about different jobs and the necessary skills and qualities required.
- They will have a meaningful encounter with at least one employer/representative.
- They will develop their skills of teamwork, communication, listening, confidence, self-awareness, presentation.
Pastoral Curriculum – Identifying Skills and Qualities
Focus: Pupils will explore the key skills and qualities required to be successful in employment.
Brief outline of activities: During weekly pastoral curriculum sessions, led by form tutors, pupils will explore the difference between a skill and quality. They will learn about what makes a successful employer from being creative, team player, effective participant and a person with good personal organisation.
Learning Objectives:
- To identify a variety of key skills
- To assess some of the key skills that employers value
- To be able to talk about the key skills that individual students possess.
