During KS3 your teachers will assess your work in a range of ways such as: listening to the answers that you give in class, your individual practical work or your contributions to practical group work. Each half term your teacher will provide you with an overall SEA level for the work you have produced.
Final assessments for your GCSEs are done in a very specific way that is outlined below.
GCSE Music - 60% coursework / 40% examination
Performing (30%) – two performances marked by your teacher and moderated externally by the exam board.
Composing (30%) – two compositions marked by your teachers and moderated by the exam board.
Listening & Appraising exam (40%) – 1 hour 15 minute examination on four areas of study: Musical Forms & Devices, Music for Ensemble, Film Music, Popular Music.
