As we watch, in horror, the events unfolding in Ukraine, on the news and social media, we have been left wondering what on earth we can do to help support the people who have been so badly affected by the devastation caused by the invasion there.
We have already sent emergency donations of items to try to help alleviate the immediate effects of displacement but, the consensus now is that money is needed to help those countries that border Ukraine and who are welcoming people, in their hundreds of thousands and more, who are seeking refuge from the horrors of the bombardment.
To contribute in the most effective way we can, going forward, we have made ribbons and angels to show that we care and offer support to the people of Ukraine. We are asking for donations of £1.00 for the ribbons and angels.
100% of the money we raise from these will go to the Ukranian Crisis Fund. The Government will match all donations to this fund, meaning that our contributions will mean more in real terms. If staff and students wish to contribute, the ribbons and angels are available in both the Chapel and the Library.
