Y7 student Ayden Merry signed his first contract with Wigan Athletics in 2019 when he was an under 8 and he has signed yearly contract extensions since then.

Ayden completed his under-12 contract and the foundation phase and moves to the youth development phase where boys sign 2-year contracts going forward. He has signed for 2 more years which will take him through to the end of his under-14 season in summer 2026.

Over the years Ayden has played the majority of time as a centre forward, which is where he has also been played when representing St Edmund Arrowsmith this year.

Prior to Wigan, Ayden played and trained with most of the north west clubs in their 'pre academies', starting with Manchester United when he had just turned 6.

He also played for local grassroots club, Ashton Park with school friends from St Oswalds (and now SEACHS) up to the age of 8 until his first contract with Wigan started when he was no longer allowed to play grassroots football.

We wish Ayden every success with his footballing career - he is clearly a very talented young player.
