Gymnasts from St. Edmund Arrowsmith opened their competition season with a trip to Sunderland FC's Stadium of Light complex to compete in the South Tyneside International Acro Cup last weekend. The competition featured gymnasts from all across the U.K. with visiting clubs from Ireland and Finland also competing.
Lola Sitko (Y8 - back left) won convincingly with her trio in the Grade 2 Women's Group category to claim the gold medal.
Emma Green (Y10 - left) and Eva Barron (Y7 - right)) competed as part of a new trio for the first time in the Grade 3 Women's Group. They performed beautifully to win an unexpected silver medal up against 21 other trios. Jessica Bithell (Y9) also had an excellent 8th place finish with her trio in the same category.
Hannah Gannon's (Y9) partnership produced a fantastic display but just missed out on a medal, finishing 4th in the ultra-competitive Grade 4 Women's Groups. Hattie Lloyd and Eva Booth (both Y9) also finished a fantastic 6th of 22 opponents in the same category with their trio.
Isla Cook (Y10 - centre) and Libby Williams (Y7 - left) took a huge step up in class into the FIG 11-16 Women's Group category and gave a fantastic account of themselves against top quality opposition, finishing in 5th place in the Dynamic competition and 6th in the Balance routines.
