'Every year brings a great movie. Every decade a great movie musical!'

Set in America during the time of the Prohibition, Bugsy Malone tells the story of a gangster land with a comic twist: Chicago is a place where being hit in the face with a custard pie is the very worst that can happen.

Based on the original production, with it's tongue-in-cheek, upbeat style and lots of custard pie and splurge-gun action, the pupils at St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School once again delivered a first-rate show, which kept the audiences entranced throughout.

Rehearsals started six months ago, following the success of the last production Les Miserables, and the contrast in style could not be greater. Catering to all tastes, highlighting that variety really is the spice of life, the pupils played to packed audiences on each of the three nights.

Under the expert direction of drama teachers, Mr Bateman and Mrs Melling, aided by willing staff volunteers working behind the scenes, Bugsy Malone ranks as one of the best shows that St Edmund Arrowsmith have ever produced.

With a wonderful score and a great selection of sing-a-long songs, this was the show to remind us all 'you give a little love, and it all comes back to you'!
