There are a variety of Music activities and opportunities for pupils throughout the week.

Boys’ Choir 

 

Year 7 Choir: This is a non-auditioned choir so if you are in year 7 you are very welcome to attend. Rehearsals take place twice a week and there are many performances across the year for you to become involved in starting with Open Evening, an Ecumenical Service with Byrchall High School, Certificate Presentation Evening, Advent Service and all the Christmas Services in school.

After Christmas you will perform at the Music Showcase, Reconciliation Service and all the Lenten Services leading up to Easter. In the summer term the Let’s Sing project begins where you will work towards a large-scale performance at Robin Park in July.

If you are involved in the choir in year 7 you will have the opportunity to go to London on a rewards weekend during September of year 8. This involves two nights in a hotel, watching a West End production and going on the London Eye and Riverboat Cruise on the Thames.

Senior Choir: This is a non-auditioned choir and if you are in year 8 – 11 you are very welcome to attend. Rehearsals take place twice a week and there are many performances across the year for you to become involved in. As part of Senior Choir you will perform at the Advent and Christmas Services, Music

Showcase, Reconciliation Service, Lenten Services and in the summer term being work on the Let’s Sing project leading to a large-scale performance at Robin Park.

In recent years there have been Music Tours abroad to Lake Garda (Italy), New York (USA) and Barcelona (Spain) providing you the opportunity to perform in different cultures. If you are involved in Senior Choir you will have the opportunity to become involved in any future Music Tours abroad.

Boys’ Choir: If you are male and love singing then this is a great activity for you. We rehearse at specific times of the year leading up to the Advent Service in December and Let’s Sing in July where we have pieces for only the boys to perform.

Concert Band: If you play a brass, string or woodwind instrument you will be encouraged to join our Concert Band. Rehearsals are for an hour each week and provide you the opportunity to meet other instrumentalists in your year and across other year groups. Film music such as Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Jurassic Park, Pink Panther etc. are played in rehearsals and Concert Band perform at the Advent Service, Music Showcase and the PTA Summer Fayre.

String Ensemble: If you play violin, viola, cello or double bass you will be encouraged to join our String Ensemble. Rehearsals are for 30 minutes each week and provide the opportunity to meet other string players in your year and across other year groups. As part of the String Ensemble you will perform at the SEA Music Festival in March.

Woodwind Ensemble: If you play flute, piccolo, clarinet, oboe or bassoon you will be encouraged to join our Woodwind Ensemble. Rehearsals are for 30 minutes each week and provide the opportunity to meet other woodwind players in your year and across other year groups. As part of the Woodwind Ensemble you will perform at the SEA Music Festival in March.

Brass Ensemble: If you play trumpet, cornet, trombone, horn or tuba you will be encouraged to join our Brass Ensemble. Rehearsals are for 30 minutes each week and provide the opportunity to meet other brass players in your year and across other year groups. As part of the Brass Ensemble you will perform at the SEA Music Festival.
