Year 9 Stand Out from the Crowd

During Y9 pupils are encouraged to get involved in different experiences both inside and outside of school and share their success.  This is part of the new year group challenge 'Stand Out from the Crowd.'  The aim of this is to build a range of different skills, which aren't just purely academic based, to help them with future life experiences and opportunities.

This could be displayed through extra curricular activities such as sports clubs, choir or being involved in the school productions.  It could be achievements or clubs they participate in out of school.  It may even be through supporting others by becoming a peer mentor, leading charity work or volunteering to help people in need.

Pupils will record this information at termly points during from time throughout the year, in preparation to present this to their parents on Review Day.  They will take ownership of this presentation and need to ensure they have built up some good information to discuss on the day.

Pupils are also encouraged by form tutors to fill in twitter bubbles with tweets about the activities they are during throughout the year.  These will be celebrated  by the notice board team on the Y9 notice board along with any photos that pupils or parents have emailed in.

We hope the new initiative will encourage our pupils here at SEA to become more rounded individuals with higher aspirations for the future and a greater range of skills to showcase on college or university applications.
