On Tuesday (12 November 2024) at Year 7 MFL Culture Club our main focus was Papel Picado which continued our Día de los Muertos theme.

Papel Picado is intricate and vibrant decorations which are often seen during celebrations and traditional colours include bright oranges, yellows, pinks, and purples.
The decorations represent wind and the fragility of life. The Y7 pupils used a range of resources to create their own intricate designs and they are currently displayed on the window in MFL 1. We also continued to decorate biscuits in the style of Sugar Skulls.  Pupils were also able to watch The Book of Life which follows the story of a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart.

Lucy Doyle 7L - Year 7 MFL Culture Club Member:  I attended MFL Culture Club today and we learned about Italian culture, language, cuisine and famous Italian people. We also learned about Italian geography! I really enjoyed learning numbers and greetings in Italian. I tasted panettone but I really don't like oranges so it wasn't for me! I enjoy being a member of MFL Culture Club - I really like to learn and want to learn new things about other cultures!

Next week pupils are invited to take part in an Italian Beginners Session and will have the opportunity to taste some festive panettone.
