I am heartbroken to hear the news of Mrs Evans’s passing. Mrs Evans taught me from year 9 through to year 11 and never did she fail to have a smile on her face or a positive bubbly energy about her. I will never forget her belief in me during my time in her class and her passion for mathematics. She was such an influential teacher for me and is someone who has continued to inspire me on my journey into my teaching career. Mrs Evan was an amazing form teacher to me for 3 years, she helped me with bullying and things I never told anyone about. Every morning before school I would walk into form and she would be sat there listening to music singing all dancing you name it she was always happy and always put a smile on everyone’s face she will truly be missed.

It was a huge shock that I heard of the news of the sad loss of Jo. She was my 2nd in department before joining St Edmund Arrowsmith, I think at the time I said it would be a great loss to us but I could not recommend her highly enough for the job. It was clear from when I first met Jo that she was a hugely talented teacher who cared deeply about her students. This shines through from the lovely tributes I have read. I was lucky enough to work with Jo again a few years later where her determination for all to achieve was clear. She would not be happy until every student got their Grade C and even then she would have said it wasn't good enough. We met regularly at GCSE meetings and always had long chats to catch up on how are families were getting on, what was happening in our departments and issues of the day. I will miss her sense of humour and sound judgement. Jo's family meant everything to her and my prayers and thoughts are with them. Sleep well my friend.

She always found ways to make lessons engaging and you could tell she genuinely cared for each of her students both academically and general well-being wise. Mrs Evens was one of the most inspirational teachers to me, Mrs Evens shown me in short time that I had potential in everything I do. I never used to like maths until I got into Mrs Evens class but I never had any work to do because I'd always finish it before everyone else. She always had a way of brightening up a lesson and making it enjoyable - even when it was the day before our GCSE exam and we were all terrified! Without Mrs Evans dedication, passion and belief in myself and the rest of our class, we never would have passed Maths. Mrs Evans was my maths teacher from 2005 - 2008 and she was one of my favourite teachers in high school. Maths was always fun in her class and once a week she would treat us to sweets which were stored in a locker in the classroom. It is such a shock to hear this heartbreaking news! I remember once her daughter had helped her mark our maths books and they were covered in stickers that her daughter wanted to give us, it was so cute! I’m absolutely heart broken. Mrs Evans was one of the kindest souls I had ever met, she only taught me in year7 but she made sure I was pushing myself even if she wasn’t my teacher. Mrs Evans was our maths teacher from year 8. This was the first year she worked at St Edmund Arrowsmith, and she taught us for the next 4 years, until we left. She was a lovely, supportive, encouraging and dedicated teacher. She was talented and clearly enthusiastic about her job. The three of us went on to do maths at college, so clearly she had a positive influence on us and we have each gone on to earn degrees in scientific fields where this base knowledge has been invaluable and for this we are forever grateful. I had Mrs Evans in yr 9 and intervention in yr 11, she helped me through a tough time dealing with my exams. I hated maths, and she made it enjoyable. She was there when others wasn't in my time of need, and she was always a joy to talk too. She helped me when I struggled with math, giving me extra time to help me through my GCSE's. Honestly she was one of the main reasons I passed. She cared for all her pupils, and she was honestly one of the most loving teachers in Eddies. Not many people have a heart as big as Mrs Evans, she loved her work, the school and all the pupils. I'm glad that I was able to meet her, she really did save me from failing maths.
