What an amazing week it has been for the school, as we welcome the Y6 students for their induction days. It has been such a rewarding experience, as I lived vicariously through the little year 6s excited to join secondary, seeing my past self in each excited face!

Induction days have been proved to help remove the initial anxiety of starting secondary school. Our school has gone above and beyond and dedicated 3 days to help ease the Y6’s into a new environment. The induction days wouldn’t have been possible, if it weren’t for the brilliant staff that have organised the lessons for these few days and the senior prefects of course!

Wednesday morning, we could see a mixture of excited faces and worried faces, but by the time break came around any worries had dissipated a little. Each form group started their morning with their form teacher, introducing morning habits that would start when they join in September. Form teachers reported back that “the children listened attentively and were eager to learn” which is the true Eddies spirit!

It has been such a privilege to be able to meet all the future Y7’s, each and every single one being so polite and kind. It has been such a rewarding experience to have taken in part in. I personally have been supporting 7B which is Mrs Parry’s form, they have been such a bubbly and bright group of young individuals! Other seniors have said similar things about their forms they have been supporting describing them as “ambitious” , “compassionate” and “overall brilliant”

Any parents that are reading the blog, I would just like to reassure you that your child will feel at home when they join in September, and I will do my best as Head Girl to ensure that they will settle in. If you have any concerns, encourage your child to speak to teacher or even myself and I will be glad to support them to the best of my ability. The school email and phone number are always open too!
